AAMI Summer Camp Gives Greater Greensboro Young Men a Summer to Remember
Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro celebrates a successful 2026 camp built on mentorship, leadership, and high expectations
GREENSBORO, N.C. – This summer at the African American Male Initiative (AAMI) Summer Camp, a program of Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro (CISGG).
Mentorship at the Center
AAMI is built on long-term mentoring. Through the initiative, CISGG pairs young men with mentors who stay in their lives for years, in some cases from elementary school through high school. Braxton Mayhew, an AAMI participant who went on to graduate from Elon University, credits his longtime mentor with helping shape who he became.
A Week Full of Learning and Growth
Campers took part in academic enrichment, college and career exploration, guest speakers, and field trips!
Results That Matter
The camp supports CISGG’s focus on attendance, positive behavior, and academic success, which the organization considers cornerstones of its work.
