NC SECU Helps Greater Greensboro Students Start the School Year Prepared

Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro thanks the credit union for supplies that put students on equal footing in the classroom

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For many students, the first day of school starts with a new backpack, a fresh notebook, and a handful of sharpened pencils. For others, those basics are out of reach. Thanks to a gift from NC SECU, more students across Greater Greensboro are walking into class with what they need.

Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro (CISGG) recently thanked NC SECU for its support of the organization’s back-to-school efforts. The contribution helped provide students with essential supplies, from backpacks to notebooks to pencils.

“Because of partners like NC SECU, kids across Greater Greensboro are walking into school with the supplies they need to learn, grow, and thrive,” CISGG said in a public message of thanks.

Small Items, Big Difference

School supplies may seem minor, but they shape how a student experiences the classroom. A child with the right tools can focus on learning instead of worrying about what they’re missing. Having what classmates have also builds confidence, which matters especially at the start of a school year.

CISGG works to connect students with community resources that help them stay in school and succeed. Supply drives like this one are one way the organization helps remove everyday barriers for students who need support most.

The Power of Community Partnerships

The effort also shows how much local partnerships matter. Organizations like CISGG depend on businesses and financial institutions to turn good intentions into backpacks and notebooks in students’ hands. NC SECU’s investment is part of that work, and it benefits students and the wider community.

CISGG expressed gratitude for the support, saying it reflects a commitment to students and to the Greensboro community as a whole.
