Investing in Futures: Partnering to Empower the Next Generation
At Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro, our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. This work is made possible through meaningful partnerships with those who believe in the potential of every student—and who invest in turning that potential into a pathway to success.
We are proud to highlight our collaboration with the Edward M. Armfield Sr. Foundation, a dedicated advocate for equality of opportunity in education. Under the leadership of Executive Director Mindy Oakley, the foundation will help fund afterschool programs for at-risk students, offering safe, structured environments where students can receive academic support, engage in enrichment activities, and build connections with caring adults. These programs are a critical extension of the school day, reinforcing classroom learning while promoting social and emotional growth. Their support goes beyond funding-it reflects a shared vision of creating lasting, transformative opportunities for young people. Equally important, it provides a safe place for kids after school which is one of the most critical resources a community can provide for under-resourced kids. Also, it relieves a financial burden of families that are already overwhelmed and cannot afford afterschool care for their underaged children.
