What We Do
At Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro we see potential in every student – and we’re committed to helping them see it, too.
It’s not always easy. Thousands of students across our community face overwhelming roadblocks to their academic and personal success. Homelessness. Bullying. The emotional effects of trauma. Untreated medical or dental conditions. A lack of school supplies and clothes. Systems and circumstances beyond their control. We’re in schools to spot and overcome the roadblocks in our students’ way.
Comprehensive Services
To provide students and schools with our Comprehensive Services, CIS places full-time, trained professionals – our Site Coordinators – in selected Guilford County schools to build trust and form lasting relationships across communities.
Site Coordinators work side by side with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, volunteers, and community partners to provide caring relationships and critical resources to students and families.
Our approach is simple but powerful: We connect students with the resources they need to succeed – whether that’s food, clothing, counseling, tutoring, or simply someone who believes in them.
